Where is my file?

Every organization that moves paperwork between departments gets the same phone call. Someone wants to know where their thing is. Usually nobody can answer without asking three other people first.

Praxis is built around that question.

For the person waiting

Every case gets a tracking code. It works like a parcel number: open a page, type the code, and see what has happened, when, and which stage the case is in now. No account, no login, no phone call.

What the page does not show is everything else — no documents, no internal comments, no case title, no staff names. A stage can even carry a friendlier public label than the internal one: “En Legal” for the team, “Under review” for the street. The person waiting gets the progress, not the file.

For the people working

Staff get an inbox instead of a shared drive. Three lists: what is assigned to me, what my area has to pick up, and what is pending across the department. It updates while you are looking at it, so two people do not start the same item at the same time.

Acting on a case is an explicit verb — approve, return, request changes, cancel — and each action hands the case to whoever is next. You can follow a case you care about and be told when it moves, in the app or as one summary email a day, instead of checking a spreadsheet.

The part that matters later

Nobody edits yesterday. A correction is a new entry that says what changed, who changed it, and when. Documents work the same way: files are not edited in place, so a new version is a new object and the previous one is still there.

That is a boring property right up to the audit, the complaint, or the question a year later about why something was rejected. Then it is the entire point. When a case closes, the whole file — timeline, forms, documents — can be exported as a single archive.

Signatures

Praxis does not sign. When a step needs a real signature, Sigil takes the document, collects the signatures, seals it, and leaves it verifiable. The case keeps moving in Praxis; the proof stays in Sigil.
