When the same matter comes back, the temptation is to reopen the folder. On a shared drive that is a click. On paper, another tab. The problem is that later nobody can tell whether what they are holding is what was closed, or what was added six months later.
In Praxis a closed case is never reopened.
Closing is a decision
The close leaves the case file as it was: what was decided, what was attached, who acted. It is not another status you leave. When you need the whole bundle — history, forms, documents — you export it. The closed file remains as evidence, not as an inbox.
If the matter continues
Sometimes the complaint comes back, or the purchase has a second stage, or somebody regrets closing. That does not reopen the case. You open a new one and link it to the previous.
They are two stories. The closed file stays as it was. The new one is the work now. The person waiting follows a code, not a tree of folders.
Reopening would rewrite the close. In Praxis the close stays, and the new work has its own case file.
